Module 1: Week 2 – Unleash Your Health Potential & Make Changes That STICK
How one tiny habit can lead to powerful changes
…………………………………………
Welcome to Lesson #2 of Zero to Unstoppable!
In last week’s first lesson, I covered the importance and power of creating “tiny but mighty” daily habits and routines that can shape your health. In case you missed that first lesson, or want to review it again, you can go back and access it inside your program.
In this week’s lesson, I want to go into a bit more detail on the importance of small, but positive daily habits and routines. The reason I’m putting so much emphasis on this is because without taking swift action on a regular and consistent basis, you won’t be able to change your mind + body in positive ways.
So, let’s dive right in…
Marcus Aurelius, a Roman emperor and a Stoic philosopher, once said: “When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”
The morning can be not only a fantastic time to be mindful, but it can also be that magical time of day that sets the tone for the quality of your day.
I believe that the morning is the best time to be productive. It’s also the time of day when our brains are most “plastic” (or moldable) and more receptive to new things (which the brain also loves!)
Since morning time can be a time where you may feel more refreshed, more clear-minded, and have more energy, it’s the perfect time to add a bit of structure and planning to develop a positive routine.
It’s these “tiny” morning routines that can add up and have a cumulative effect on both the quality of your day, but also your mental + physical health. And most of all – YOUR ENERGY.
So, what kind of baby steps can you take first thing when you wake up in the morning to improve your health, energy, and overall wellbeing?
Here’s what I recommend…
When you wake up, you’ve been sleeping for 6-8 hours. This means during that time of rest, your body has had no food or water. And both are essential to your health and energy.
The first thing I’d do is to wake up, be aware of your body, take a few breaths, and become truly present. Connect with your emotions. Feel what it’s like to be in your body. Tell yourself this “Today is going to be a good day”.
The next thing you’ll want to do is nourish and engage.
For your brain to thrive, it only needs two things:
#1: PROPER nourishment (nutritional food and clean water)
#2: ACTIVE engagement (to stimulate your brain neurons)
That’s it.
Just like a pro athlete, all it takes doing something repeatedly until the neurons in your brain will begin to “fire and wire” together. When this happens, you’ll form larger and stronger neural networks.
The repetition of small (yet positive) habits can add up very quickly. So, it’s important that you never underestimate how a few tiny habits and routines can impact or transform your life.
With that being said, I want you to think about the GOOD and BAD daily routines or habits (both big and small) that may be having an impact in the quality of your own energy and health.
And to be more specific, look at your current morning habits and routines. Are you doing things that power UP your mind and body, or power DOWN your mind and body before you jump into your day?
If you need help with creating a more powerful, positive, and energizing morning routine, I’ve got a few more things that I want to share with you that I know will be very beneficial…
Create Your Day
I have a simple tip for you…
You don’t want to begin your day by default.
As a doctor, I get lots of questions from patients about what product they can take or food they can eat that will fix them. My answer is always the same: Give me a better idea of your day & about your inner reason “Why.”
Establishing your “Why” is a very powerful, motivating technique. It is a habit of mind that opens up our bodies & brains to how we create our day toward our desired outcomes.
For example, there’s a world of difference between eating food that provides fuel and is a foundation for living a healthy life & devouring fad or fast foods that zap you of energy and rob you of strength because you’re too busy.
To help you further visualize this week’s assignment, and what I’m really asking you to do, I created a short video that drills deeper into how you can Create Your Day and begin to see yourself in the desired outcome you want!
